Destin is a perpetually exciting vacation destination. Part of the excitement is the constant new development in the area! You never know what neat new stuff you'll encounter when you're in town. One of the recent efforts for improvement centers around a 2-acre property at the base of Marler Bridge.
Recently, the city of Destin has been embroiled in efforts to purchase a highly-desirable 2 acre property located right at the foot of the Marler Bridge, overlooking the city's iconic Crab Island. A week ago, the Destin city council voted unanimously to approve the purchase of a $9 million waterfront property.
Mayor Bobby Wagner confirmed that the new property will be designated for public use, but the exact purpose of the property has not been decided. The city is looking for community input to guide their planning. To provide input, check out the local government website here: https://www.cityofdestin.com/142/Mayor-Council
Will it be a beach? A park? We aren't sure- but we're excited to find out!
Mayor Wagnor is quoted as saying, "The council made this one of their strongest priorities this year. We are all unanimous in our front with this. And I think this is, again, just another tremendous generational win for the community of Destin. Not just for the view corridor, but what could it be? Where is it going? And another attachment to the HarborWalk community."
What do you hope to see at the new property?
