The Emerald Coast is renown for its fantastic fishing and its family-friendly attractions. It makes sense that Destin would host an annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day!
Harbor Docks Charities is hosting the 28th Annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing Day on Sunday, November 5, 2023. On this day, there will be openings for 300 kids (many of whom would not otherwise get the chance to fish in Destin) to board a charter boat and catch some fish. Off duty law enforcement and firemen as well as Harbor Docks Charities Volunteers serve as the chaperones on the professional charter boats.
This event is free for kids between 7 and 13 years old. Participating children and their chaperones will be served breakfast before boarding one of Destin's finest charter boats for a morning of fishing. At the end of the event, there is a fish fry lunch. Every child is sent home with a t-shirt and their own rod and reel!
To date, this event has given over 9000 children the chance to fish in Destin. It is a remarkable charitable event!
